Ohio Showdown draws hundreds to rally for good jobs and a fair economy

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Hundreds of working people and community activists rallied outside of the JP Morgan Chase Bank McCoy Center in response to bank practices that are slowing our economic recovery. Chase Bank has cut back lending to small business by 68% and foreclosed on 345,000 Ohio homes while rewarding their CEO Jamie Dimon with a compensation package totaling over $20 million.

“Chase Bank is really living up to its name,” said Becky Williams, President of SEIU District 1199. “They are chasing away jobs by cutting back on small business loans and chasing us out of our homes through foreclosure.”

“We just ask that Chase Bank pay their fair share to support our communities. They should stop foreclosing on our homes and start lending to small business that will create jobs,” said SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry who joined the crowd for the march. “We need an economy that works for everyone not just the big corporations.”

The Showdown in Ohio rally at the McCoy Center was part of two-day event organized by National Peoples Action and partner organizations.
