Hundreds of bikers rode to the Ohio Statehouse on Saturday, June 11 in opposition of the job-killing, community-destroying, Senate Bill 5. Thunder at the Statehouse, the Ride to Kill the Bill, invited motorcycle clubs, first responders, and independent riders from around the state to show their disapproval of the bill.
Larry Quinn, a retired Teamster, came from Youngstown to participate in the rally. “They need to start looking out for working people in this country, more so than big business,” says Quinn.
Senate Bill 5, which repeals the collective bargaining rights of more the 300,000 state workers, was signed into law by Governor Kasich in March. Labor unions and citizen groups have lead a petition drive to put the legislation on the ballot in November.
“Public workers and their unions all over Ohio have been giving concessions left and right . . . and they were all done through collective bargaining,” says FOP Capital Lodge 9 Member, Jerry Cupp.
The Ride to Kill the Bill was sponsored by We Are Ohio, a bipartisan, citizen-driven coalition.
