Ohio’s Growth Slows

In a Midwest economic snapshot released this week by the Federal Reserve, it is apparent the economy remains sluggish in Ohio as growth has continued to slow.  Far more alarming, business owners’ outlook has worsened over the past month.

The Federal Reserve’s Cleveland branch, reported the economy in the area remained weak and that there were only modest gains in retail sales.

The report went on to say that the manufacturing industry reported a stable production but that there has been a recent decline in new orders, which could influence the industry’s numbers in the future.

Concerns over job creation remain high as new home construction remained sluggish and the slowdown is now being felt by nonresidential builders as well.

The energy industry noted little change in output, which should alarm Ohioans who have been following the news of the JobsOhio appointment of David Mustine, who is to join the agency as an oil and gas expert.

While there were a few signs that not all of the news was negative, Ohioans continue to feel the effects of this sluggish economy in their
pockets and in their bank accounts.  But the best news is that we can do something to make our voices heard. By joining the Fight for a Fair economy, you can get involved and take your economy back! For more information on the campaign, please click here.
