Ohioans Visit Washington D.C. to Take Back the Capitol

On Wednesday, Take Back the Capitol activists confronted lobbyists and protested Corporate Greed on K Street.

Groups of Ohioans have traveled to Washington DC this week to stand up for the 99% and “Take Back the Capitol.” Ohioans joined activists from across the United States to make a peaceful, visible presence on Capitol Hill in hope of reminding Congress to represent all Americans – not just the richest one percent.

Ohioans were locked out of Speaker John Boehner's Office

On Tuesday, the 99% visited congressional offices to voice their concerns of high unemployment and proposed cuts to programs.  A group of Ohioans hoped to visit the office of Speaker John Boehner while at the Capitol, but according to reports, they were locked out of his office. With more than 13 million unemployed, many Americans around the country are frustrated with the job performance of Congress and plan to hold their representatives accountable. Activists walked on K Street in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, to confront lobbyists and protest corporate greed.  Thousands of people walked down the street chanting and expressing their disapproval with lobbyists’ influence over the political system and their rigging of the economy against the 99%. Take Back the Capitol actions will continue in Washington D.C. through Thursday with plans of a National Prayer Vigil and a Soup Line for the 99%. Even if you were not able to be in Washington D.C. this week, you can still make an impact.  Click here to send a message to Congress.
